Bean Bonanza with Chef Trey
Join Chef Trey as he teaches us all about beans! We will use different types of beans to make a white bean crostini, pasta fagioli, and even a Dominican kidney bean dessert called Habichuelas con Dulce!
SOLD OUT: Korean Bibimbap with Chef Kristen
Join Chef Kristen as she teaches us to make Korean bibimbap bowls at home. We will focus on the marinade for the meat, the chili sauce that accompanies it and several of the vegetable sides. This is a recipe sure to spice up your weekly dinner routine and please the whole family.

The Dirty Apron is hosting soup making and instruction parties every Monday night! Much like our other events, it’s a 3-hour party where you cook, enjoy some drinks and food, and even take home our recipes! The difference is that we will be making soup in bulk to donate 140 cups of soup, enough to feed West Anchorage High School’s food insecure students for a week. We started a several weeks ago and the students LOVE IT, as do we. The evidence is clear: when kids are well-fed, they perform better, and together we can make a difference by ensuring they are fed.
Through the Anchorage School Business Partnership Program, we have adopted West Anchorage High School. At West, on any given day, 15-25 students leave school and have no food at home. In fact, on most days approximately 70 West High Students have no home at all; they are homeless. So, the Dirty Apron and the Anchorage School Business Partnership have launched Soup Service.

SOLD OUT: A Taste of Thailand with Chef Judith
Join Chef Judith as she teaches us to make everyone’s favorite Thai noodle dish, pad Thai! Learn two methods, one traditional and a simpler yet still delicious version best suited for those busy weeknight dinners. Enjoy using a clay mortar and pestle to make a Green Papaya and a Green Mango salad. Sticky rice steamed in a bamboo steamer will round out this traditional Thai meal.

Join Chef Kat as she teaches us how to use this versatile French treat in both sweet and savory ways! We will make savory baked crepes with prosciutto, asparagus, and hollandaise and we will learn various ways to fill sweet crepes from fresh and fruity to rich and decadent. Mimosas anyone?
Artisan Pizza Night with The Yorks
Join the owners of The Dirty Apron, Amy and Geary, for the super fun artisan pizza night! In this class you’ll learn to make scratch pizza dough, experiment with unique (and classic) flavor combos for toppings, and pair it all with a beautiful salad. This class is a great opportunity to test out our Gozney pizza ovens, sold on the retail side!
Mastering the French Macaron with Emily of Mt. Magnificent Macarons
Join Emily of Mt. Magnificent Macarons as she teaches us the tools, techniques, and helpful tricks to mastering these classic and delicate French sandwich cookies!
Vietnamese Bánh Xèo with Chef Kristen (Vegetarian Option)
Join Chef Kristen as we learn to make Bahn Xeo, a crispy savory crepe made with coconut milk and rice flour and stuffed with pork, shrimp and bean sprouts. This will be served with a fresh herb plate and the infamous Nuoc Cham dipping sauce. For a sweet and refreshing treat we'll also learn Sua da Chanh, a sweet lime drink.
Olive Oil Ovation with Chef Kat
Join Chef Kat as she teaches us the versatility of this humble kitchen staple. We will learn to different ways to infuse our oil, and use it in both sweet and savory applications like a delicious focaccia and a delightful upside-down citrus cake.
Japanese Cuisine 101 - Sushi Basics with Chef Shin
Join Chef Shin as he teaches us some of the staples of Japanese cuisine. We will build a versatile Dashi - A Japanese soup base packed with umami and used in many different ways in Japanese food. Shin will then teach us introductory sushi skills as we learn the techniques of basic sushi rolling.
Ethiopian-Dip Cuisine with Chef Judith
Dip into a taste of the unique cuisine of Ethiopia by making a chicken stew called Doro Wat. Doro Wat is the well loved, spicy native dish of Ethiopia. Blend your own Berebere, the fragrant spice blend used in authentic cooking along with Niter Kebbah. a lovely spiced butter that will elevate other cuisines as well. Finish the class with a lesson in Injera, the spongy flat bread made of Teff flour. Enjoy eating your meal, Ethiopian style, over a plate of freshly made injera.
El Salvadorian Pupusas with Chef Kristen (Vegetarian Option)
Join Chef Kristen as she teaches us to make the traditional El Salvadorian staple, pupusas! Pupusas are stuffed corn cakes that are griddled and served with curtido (a fresh and tangy cabbage slaw) and salsa Rojo (a fresh tomato salsa). Get ready to stuff, flatten and shape these delightful little corn cakes filled with beans, zucchini, cheese and chicharrons.
Japanese Style Ramen and Handmade Gyoza with Chef Shin
Join Chef Shin as he teaches us to make a traditional Japanese meal. Shin will show us his favorite techniques of making perfectly folded gyoza dumplings with dipping sauce and then we will work together to build a delicious Japanese ramen bowl.
A Seafood Celebration with Chef Judith
This class is a perfect vehicle to access all of your freezer fish. Join Chef Judith as she teaches us to make Moqueca, a Brazilian Seafood stew is easily mastered and special enough for an elegant dinner party. We will also make a beautiful cider glazed salmon is absolutely wonderful served over hot rice. We will round out our menu with a cozy Saffron Seafood Risotto.
Intro to Indian Cuisine with Chef Kristen
Take a trip to India with Chef Kristen as we explore Mumbai street foods sure to wake up your taste buds. We will make Pav Bhaji (just think Indian spiced sloppy joes), a mixture of diced vegetables in a spiced tomato sauce and serve on soft buttered rolls. We will also learn to make pakoras, fried vegetable fritters served with a coriander chutney.
Japanese Street Food - Okonomiyaki with Chef Kristen (Vegetarian option)
Join Chef Kristen in making the delicious Japanese street food - Okonomiyaki, a savory pancake with multiple toppings from the Osaka region. The batter has mountain yam in it, which gives it a unique texture. A variety of veggies and proteins can be added to customize it to your liking. We will accompany the pancakes with a refreshing smashed cucumber salad and matcha mochi.
Brunch for Grown Ups with Chef Faith
Come along with Chef Faith as we learn various iterations of a Dutch baby, including the traditional German apple pancake or pannekoeken. Faith will also teach us to make an easy, yet sophisticated quiche with thyme and caramelized onion. This combo is sure to bring a perfect balance of spice and flavor to brunch this holiday season. Mimosas anyone?
Cajun Seafood Boil with Chef Keith
In this class Chef Keith teaches us to make a succulent feast that brings a party! Fresh seafood, spicy sausage, plump veggies covered in seasoning deliciousness and a garlic butter sauce that you want to bathe in! Pair the spicy seafood with the sweetness of honey butter cornbread- oh my!

Spanish Tapas with Chef Jenny
Join Chef Jenny as she teaches us to make some of her favorite Spanish tapas! We will learn to make Spanish tortilla - a very popular yet traditional dish in Spanish cuisine followed by the crowd-pleasing papas arrugadas con mojo - baby potatoes with a red pepper-garlic sauce that is great for dipping but also perfect to serve alongside fish or steaks. Jenny will show us a delightful garlic fried mushroom dish known as champiñones al ajillo. We will also make an addicting garlic sauce from scratch for pan con ajo. Garlic lovers unite!
Traditional Chinese Cuisine with Chef Judith
Join Chef Judith as we learn the technique to make luscious, gently poached Ginger Chicken. Try your hand wrapping jiaozi (pork and vegetable stuffed Chinese dumplings). Sauté fresh Baby Bok Choy in Oyster sauce, a recipe that will seep into your weekly rotation. We will round out our meal with buttery Chinese Five Spice and Curry cookies made using traditional wooden moon cake molds.
Thai Chili Jam Session with Chef Kristen
Cooler temps getting you down? Join Chef Kristen as we take a trip to Thailand and turn up the heat with a Thai Chili jam that we will use to garnish a Tom Kai inspired soup. We will also be making Tod Man Khao Pod, Thai corn fritters packed with all the aromatics you know and love form Thai cuisine. We will cool things down a bit with a delicious Thai tea.
Celebrating Peruvian Aji Amarillo Pepper with Chef Kristen
Join Chef Kristen as we travel to Peru and learn several classic recipes that utilize the famed Aji Amarillo pepper. Aji de Gallina is a comforting chicken stew packed with flavor. We'll also learn a popular side dish, Papas a la Huancaina (potatoes with a creamy aji amarillo sauce). Suspiro de Limena will top the meal off, a port spiked caramel pudding.
Southern Style Fudge with Chef Faith
Join Chef Faith as she teaches us her multigenerational family secret recipe and techniques to making great southern style fudge. We will learn to make different fudge flavors and everyone will take home a sample of various fudges made in class. This one is sure to be a hit at your next holiday party!
Korean Beef Bulgogi Rice Bowls with Chef Jenny
Customize your own bulgogi bowl with Chef Jenny! She will teach us a delicious marinade for our beef and we’ll learn quick pickling techniques. We will create 2 different types of sauces to compliment our creations and then adorn them with roasted veggies and delicious garnishes. A fun and comforting class for a cool winter evening! YUM!
International Holiday Cookie Platters with Chef Kristen
Revamp your holiday cookie swap as Chef Kristen teaches us several new recipes that will surly delight you taste buds. We will be making Pandan crinkle cookies, Italian Amaretti, Santa Fe Cookies, Argentinians Alfajores, and Greek Melomakarona. Enjoy baking cookies while sipping on homemade eggnog. Tis the season!
Germany for the Holidays with Chef Jenny
Join Chef Jenny as she teaches us to make a holiday meal that would make any German Oma proud! We will start with a classic Rotkraut (German red cabbage) and then build a traditional rolled beef rouladen with delicious gravy and a comforting potato mash. We will round this meal out with Quarkkeulchen, a delightful sweet ending.
Traditional Turkish- Easy Holiday Dishes with Zeynep Kilic of Anchorage’s Turkish Delight
Join Zeynep Kilic as she teaches us some of her favorite easy Turkish traditional holiday dishes. We will learn to make delicious beef börek, kisir (a Turkish bulger salad) and of course we will finish with the beloved sweet treat, baklava!
Thai Style Duck Coconut Curry
Bring some spice to your palate as we learn a new curry recipe with Chef Faith! We learn to marry flavors of lemongrass, cilantro, ginger, and coconut with traditional Thai red curry paste and round it out with delicious coconut milk to compliment our duck. We finish our meal with a sweet mango sticky rice dessert. This recipe is vibrant and sure to wow your guests when you make it at home.

Let’s join Chef Liz as we learn to make veggies the star of the show! We will take a flavor journey and warm things up with a delicious yellow curry, a Tuscan kale soup, and roasted French carrots.

Learn how to build a beautiful lobster and shrimp bisque from scratch using a French mirepoix and learning to make a complex seafood broth base. International Cuisines with Chef Judith
Take a trip around the Culinary World with Chef Judith! Learn to make two types of Thai Chicken Curry: Green (spicy) and Massaman (mild) served over hot Thai Sticky rice steamed in a traditional bamboo steamer. For our vegetable course, we will try our hand at Japan’s Blistered Shishito Peppers, Lebanese Pomegranate Glazed Carrots and Spiced Baby Eggplant from India. We will complete our meal with tender Cuban Guava Puffs.
